I went down in these today., June 18, 2017

I came around the top of a hill only to find a sharp descending hairpin turn with tons of gravel on the sides. I braked to bleed off as much speed as possible, went hard into the turn scraping my pegs on the street, and almost made it out unscathed until the wheels caught gravel and I lowsided at around 35mph. Slid for just about 100 feet on street, through gravel, then into a small ravine with shrubbery and trees. If you look at my legs now, you’d think I maybe wrestled too roughly on some carpet, just a very light friction burn on my lower left leg. Look at the pants, however, and they tell a different story. They’re completely shredded, but most of it is where the padding is located. I was wearing nothing but boxers under them, the entire right ass cheek of the pant was torn open but it absorbed enough of the impact to leave a slight scuff on my boxers underneath.

Definitely buying another pair, these things saved me from having to graft skin from where it shouldn’t be onto somewhere it no longer isn’t. At the end of the day, I think that’s the most important thing when it comes down to riding gear.

In Jeans I wear between a 32 and 33 waist and 30 to 32 Long. I originally got the Medium and it fit well. (I’m using these as over-pants). I think it depends on your riding position though. I have a cb500F and with so much bend in my knees I felt that it was causing the pants to ride up and expose my ankles too much. I returned and got the Medium tall (long) and they feel long when standing, but are perfect when riding. The description says that the liner is the waterproofing, but I got caught in a light/medium rain on the freeway for about half an hour or more and stayed very dry. My ankles got only a little wet, otherwise perfectly dry, so the outer layer still has a decent amount of water resistance. My one complaint is that the zipper on the back for attaching to a jacket is sewn on seemingly backwards. You would have to zip it from inside of the jacket and it is reverse zip from the corresponding zipper on my Joe Rocket jacket. 🙁 Otherwise great value for these pants.

I have only used these a few times but so far they are great.
Bought the 2XL (I wear a 38/32 jeans). They are a little long but otherwise fit well
I have worn them over my jeans (without the liner), and while they seem a bit bulky, they certainly did the job of keeping my legs warm on those cool days and for the most part are very comfortable.
My wife is happy that I have yet more “gear” to help keep me safe.
I would recommend them.
